Master in Insurance & Risk Management uses a methodical approach which passes from traditional education based on theory to one that answers corporate needs and yet takes into account individual skills.

• In-class learning
• Case Studies and Simulations: Work groups analyse and talk about complex cases in front of classmates during simulations in the classroom. Instructors use Action Learning to provide theoretical tools and encourage participants in the concrete application of them.
• Field Projects: Close ties between MIRM and company partners are strengthened through research projects and consulting by our students. Projects cover main areas of corporate management and are conducted with direct contact between students and company representatives. In 2006, two of the projects were on analysis of the wide-risk enterprise risk in Insurance companies (in collaboration with PriceWaterhouseCoopers Advisory) and the development of a permanent Observatory on the major European insurance groups (in collaboration with the Department of Research at Assicurazioni generali).
• Company Visits: Designed to allow participants to understand the business world from the inside and meet some of its top players.
Learning Process

•International Study Tours: During the course of the year, two international trips are organized to Munich and London to visit major European companies and financial groups for seminars, meetings with sector leaders, and visits to other business schools, all to deepen understanding of international corporate issues.
• Organized events: During the year participants are involved in important events organized and hosted by the School. Current insurance, risk management and financial themes are presented by international experts in the field who are in direct contact with participants. In recent years, themes included Solvency II, The Future of Pensions and Occupational Funds, and Enterprise Wide Risk Management in the Insurance Sector. Among guests, MIB has hosted Alessandro Profumo (CEO Unicredit), Fabio Cerchiai (Chairman ANIA), Alberto Corinti (General Secretary CEIOPS), Sergio Balbinot (CEO Generali), Irelio Offman (CEO Marsh), Gerry Dickinson (Vice General Secretary Geneva Association), Alberto Brambilla (Undersecretary for welfare and work).
• Personal Development: The track runs throughout the Master in Insurance & Risk Management programme starting with three days of Outdoor Training at the beginning of the course. It is dedicated to team building and honing the communicative, inter-personal, and leadership skills of MIRM participants through group and individual activities. There is a focus on group spirit, personal flexibility, and defining and overcoming personal limits.
• Career Counselling: specially-trained personnel help candidates define their personal and professional goals and determine a development path based on individual interests through both group sessions and individual meetings.
