The Internship of the International Master in Tourism & Leisure is a particularly significant moment for participants, who have the opportunity to work for a six-month period at a company (sponsor and partner companies or a company requested by the student), to verify the knowledge they have acquired first-hand. In fact, the objective of an internship is to learn more about a specific management area or function. The internship is also aimed at sharpening a mature approach to the work-place and developing business codes of conduct. During this period every participant is supported by a business tutor.
If requested, for those participants who are working in a tourism company that is sponsoring their Master program, the School is able to offer a variety of opportunities during the business internship period:
- A final project work on their own organization with access to the network of experts, consultants and professionals who collaborate with the School.
- An internship in a similar organization located in Italy or abroad in order to acquire best practices which can be applied to their own context (with the approval of the sponsoring company).
The internship period is a crucial moment for participants on the road to reaching their professional goals. It takes place from May to October, in Italy or abroad.
Taking into consideration company needs as well as the characteristics, motivations and goals of participants, the Career Services office selects the sector and area for the internship, which is confirmed after verifying the availability of the company and the candidate.
During the internship, with the approval and guidance of the company, candidates are expected to complete an individual project, during which they put into practical use the theoretical knowledge they gained throughout the course.
The company acts as a guide throughout the project and evaluates the work and the participant.
Many International Master in Tourism & Leisure graduates were later hired by the companies where they completed their internships.
